Did You Miss National Cookie Day?
We’re digging out from our second big snow in a week here in the Upper Midwest. Cabin Fever officially set in a few days ago — it’s time to get out of the house! And what better reason to don boots and mittens for a trip to the grocery than . . . National Cookie Day! OK, technically NCD was yesterday, December 4 (another effect of cabin fever and the home office: a weak grasp of dates). Yet the giving spirit is also appropriate for tomorrow’s St. Nicholas Day. So . . . let’s call it St. Nicholas Cookie Eve. It’s not self-indulgant if you share them, yes? I’m making a batch for the maintenance guys who work in my building and have been working overtime plowing our parking lot and shoveling out the cars.
Today’s mitzvah: Bake some cookies for someone who’s working hard and deserves some recognition.
