Update: Reusable Bags from Recycled Soda Bottles

Although I like my new Baggus (not pictured) because they’re small enough to keep in my bag and use for shopping trips on the way home from school on the bus — for car trips I’m kinda crazy about the reusable stand-up bags I bought from our local discount grocery (pictured above; click for larger image). They’re too bulky to carry around in a backpack or purse, but for planned trips they work great — square and flat-bottomed, they stand-up perfectly in the back of the Community Car and nothing rolls out. They’re made from recycled 2-liter soda bottles, so that’s cool. And I noticed at least 10 other people using them at the store this afternoon, so they’re definitely catching on. If I were an actual car owner I think I would use these for all the grocery trips.

You crack me up.

I started saying soda the same time you started saying "awesome." :-)

And, yeah, the bags are recyvcled pop/ soda/ carbonated beverage bottles. It feels like a cross between plastic and stiff fabric :-)

I saw a family walking home with a bunch of these bags stuffed full of groceries. I was happy to see Woodman's getting in on the reusable action, and now even happier that I know they're made out of recycled pop bottles. Very cool!

I was happily surprised to see so many people using them at the westside Woodman's, which tends to be more conservative than the eastside store. Ironically at Sentry by me, even with a 10 cents/bag rebate almost no one brings their own bags. Woodman's isn't offering any cash back but, wow, that wasn't deterring anyone. I saw the bags in almost every aisle.

Those are wonderful looking bags. It's a plus too that they are made from recycled materials.

Thanks, Cindy. You are the expert with the recycled bags -- impressive stuff on your site :-)
